Crater Rim Walkway

The 30km Crater Rim Walkway follows the edge of an old volcano across the top of the Port Hills above Christchurch.  On one side of this scenic track there are views of Lyttelton Harbour, and on the other side there are views across Christchurch to the Canterbury Plains and  to the Southern Alps. The Walkway loosely follows the Summit Road. Towards the south-western end, we walked part of the Walkway from the Hoon Hay Reserve to Coopers Knob, on a breezy early autumn day.
