Early in the walk the track crosses the Hurunui River via the Sisters Swingbridge.  The track does not cross the river again.  It  stays beside it, or takes a detour up on the river terraces to avoid a loop in the river.  The track is 8.3km long, and takes about three hours to Gabriel Hut.
