Lake Ohau Ski Field and Lodge

One of my favourite fields is the picturesque Lake Ohau Ski Field. It is in the South Island’s Mackenzie High Country, about a four hour drive from Christchurch.  It is a small ski field with a ridge altitude of 1925m, and a vertical drop of about 400m.  There is a lakeside lodge at the base of the hill, well known locally for its friendly hospitality and fine dining. There is a 20 minute drive up to the ski field from the lodge.  The ski season lasts from June until early October. The views from this field are truly spectacular.
